President of Defence
Industries (SSB) Professor İsmail Demir announced the development on his social
media accounts: “We continue to integrate command and control systems into our
submarines! We sent the Command and Control System, which is the brain of the
submarine, developed for REIS Class submarines to the Gölcük Shipyard Command
for the 5th Submarine Seydi Ali Reis.”
Six submarines will be built according to the project. System acceptance has been made for four submarines so far. HAVELSAN completed the installation and detailed tests of the system. Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) of the system were carried out with the participation of SSB and Navy personnel.
As Demir said, the Command and Control System is the brain of the submarine and a subcomponent of CIC. In this context, the CIC is the “head” of a submarine, where the management of the submarine is made from here. CIC contains command and control systems, combat management systems and subsystems/devices where the operation is managed, and navigational support is provided.
The submarine
commander is at the centre of the consoles, devices and systems placed in a
circular layout. His/her control over CIC is increased.
A layout compatible with the CIC personnel’s tasks/responsibilities and business processes has been provided.
The design aims to optimize the layout and get ready for unmanned submarines.
It can also be applied to Operation Centres located on different platforms and land.
