France has taken action to replace existing maritime patrol aircraft. In this line, French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA) awarded Airbus Defence and Space as well as Dassault Aviation for initial studies.

Both contractors will carry out design and development efforts for new platforms. Airbus A320neo and Dassault Falcon 10X are intended as base aircraft for a new project. Studies are planned to end in 18 months. The cost of each contract is announced as 10.9 million Euros. Two manufacturers have to offer commercially attractive solutions that meet French Navy plans after 2030. Offers are expected to open collaboration with other potential European partners.
