The "Tank Factory" of the BMC Defence company in Sakarya Karasu district is being demolished. In June 2021, the ownership of BMC was changed. According to local media reports, Tosyalı Holding, which purchased BMC shares, has decided not to invest in the allocated land in Karasu. Following Tosyalı's decision, the factory construction was recently demolished. According to reports, trucks will transport factory parts to Ankara's Kahramankazan district.

In February 2019, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan participated in the factory's groundbreaking ceremony. Approximately 2,200 acres of Treasury land in Sakarya Karasu, near the sea, were allocated to BMC as a grant for 49 years, ensuring the employment of 10,000 people. Ethem Sancak and Talip Öztürk officially sold 50.1 per cent of BMC's shares to Tosyalı Holding in June 2021.

The facility dubbed the "Tank Factory," was designed to produce tanks, armoured vehicles and military trucks, commercial vehicles and engines, high-speed trains, and subway cars. The factory was envisaged to be built in sections that would be fully operational by 2023.
