Austria to Replace the C-130K Hercules with the KC-390 Millenium

In a short release on September 20, Embraer stated that it would support the Ministry of Defence and the Austrian Air Force to fulfil the requested requirements. Austria now joins Brazil, Portugal, Hungary and the Netherlands as current and future operators of the C-390.
In 2013, the Austrian Air Force upgraded three C-130K tactical transport aircraft with British aerospace and defence company Marshall. The upgraded aircraft is a former Royal Air Force service (C-130J) acquired in 2002.
Kronen Zeitung reported on September 19, citing government sources, that Austria would acquire four C-390 aircraft to replace the three C-130Ks in the inventory.
In early April that year, the KC-390 Millennium aircraft received the Final Type Certificate, reflecting its Full Operational Capability. The FOC certificate confirms that the project meets all the requirements defined by the Brazilian Air Force and that the aircraft can carry out all the missions for which it was designed.
