The Czech defence company, Excalibur Army announced that it plans to send more than 70 DITA 155 mm self-propelled howitzer (SPH) units to Azerbaijan.
Previously, in September 2021, the Excalibur Army had sent the Dana-M1 152 mm SPH model and the RM-70M1 Vampire MLRS 122 mm to Azerbaijan.
The DITA 155 mm mobile field artillery system with a 39 km fire range will strengthen the Azerbaijani military's long-range combat arsenal. Azerbaijan intends to increase its territorial defence, anticipating the resumption of armed conflict with Armenia over Karabakh after September 2020.
The conflict, which lasted for six weeks, ended with Azerbaijan's absolute victory. However, tensions between the two countries continued, with sporadic gunfire occurring at the end of 2020 and throughout 2021.
