Bayraktar TB3 Performs Ski-Jump Test

Bayraktar TB3 Performs Ski-Jump Test

Bayraktar TB3 naval UCAV’s prototype took off from the runway with a ski-jump that imitates TCG ANADOLU’s (L-400) deck. The takeoff was performed from a short distance with the help of a ski-jump. The test is a significant achievement on the way to take off from TCG ANADOLU (L-400)  itself. As Baykar CTO Selçuk Bayraktar stated previously, the tests from TCG ANADOLU (L-400) are scheduled for 2024. Four takeoffs were performed from the ski-jump during the test. The second prototype can be expected to follow the first soon. Baykraktar TB3 has been designed as a UCAV specifically intended for operation from LHDs and STOBAR-type aircraft carriers with its low stall speed and reinforced landing gear that allows for short landings. With Bayraktar TB3s endurance of 32 hours, onboard electro-optics, and a wide selection of munitions, TCG ANADOLU will have gained a lightweight armed ISR platform. Munitions include the MAM family of smart munitions, the KEMANKEŞ mini-cruise missile, TOLUN SDB, and SUNGUR air-to-air missiles. Thanks to folding wings, Bayraktar TB3 will be easy to store inside the hangar or on the deck of TCG ANADOLU. As an LHD, TCG ANADOLU (L-400) will carry multiple types of air and ground platforms, making the effective use of space important. The UCAV will be controlled from TCG ANADOLU (L-400) via LOS communication and SATCOM. Former Secretary of SSB, Professor İsmail Demir, stated that TCG ANADOLU (L-400) can control up to ten Bayraktar TB3 UCAVs.
