President of Defence Industry Agency Professor İsmail Demir visited Sefine Shipyard to examine the Replenishment At Sea and Combat Support Ship; Derya. The procurement project of a Sea Replenishment Combat Support Ship (DIMDEG) was signed between DIA and Sefine Shipyard on 28 June 2018 to rapidly resupply surface units of the Naval Forces with the method of replenishment at sea. Derya, the second largest ship in the Navy in terms of displacement, is expected to be delivered to the Naval Forces Command within 58 months.
Derya will resupply at least four ships with supplies (food, water, medical supplies, fuel, ammunition, etc.) without shore support. It will also support the maintenance and repair of manned and unmanned surface and underwater vehicles, helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles at a certain level. The ship will also serve as a Command and Control Ship. It will support humanitarian aid, fight against piracy, natural disaster relief, search and rescue, and evacuation of non-combatants within the scope of Non-Combatant Operations.
When the project was started, it was envisaged that the ship would have a length of 194.8 meters and a displacement of 22.000 tons. It was understood from the press announcement following Demir"s visit that the size and tonnage of the ship had increased. The new features of the boat are as follows;
