The French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA-Direction Générale de l'Armement) placed an order with Dassault Aviation for AAE (Armée de l'Air et de l'Espace) with a contract value of up to 5 billion euros.
The French Air Force was flying with F3s fighters and had no intention of retiring or selling. The Force volunteered to give up its fleet but was promised to receive F4s immediately.
Dassault will deliver Rafale F4 aircraft to AAE between 2027 and 2030.
