The first batch of 24 Rafale warplanes ordered by Greece from France will reach Greek territory in January. The first Rafale was delivered to the Greek Air Force in July 2021.
According to the news in the Greek media, the first six Rafale fighter jets will be deployed to Tanagra Air Base in January. The training of Greek pilots in France is continuing. In September, the agreement signed in France had foreseen to deliver the first six aircraft in 2021.
The remaining 12 Rafale warplanes purchased by Greece are expected to be delivered to the Greek Air Force in the next two years.
At the same time, it is aimed to complete the necessary procedures for the number of Rafale warplanes purchased in the coming days to reach 24.
Greece had decided to buy Dassault Rafale type fighter jets from France in the past months as six new, and 12 are second-hand total 18 aircraft, with a cost of 2.32 billion Euros. Greece later increased the number of orders to 24. The country is expected to make additional orders reaching 40 Dassault Rafale.
Besides Rafale aircraft, Greece will also supply SCALP Cruise Missile, Exocet Anti-Ship Missile, MICA Air-to-Air Missile and METEOR Ramjet Propulsion Air-to-Air Missile.
