Indonesia Begins the Final Tranche of 42 Rafale Jets

Jakarta is the first customer to have purchased Rafale without having previously operated Dassault military aircraft.
The Indonesian contract includes crew training, logistical support for several air bases, and a training centre.
The Rafale contract is progressing in Indonesia. Jakarta has made a third payment to Dassault Aviation as part of the acquisition contract for 42 aircraft signed in February 2022. The agreement was divided into three tranches of 6, 18 and 18 aircraft to benefit the Air Force of the Indonesian National Army, the Tentara Nasional Indonesia Angkatan Udara. The last payment corresponds to the deposit for the third tranche of 18 devices. Its amount was not specified.
The first and second batches, in September 2022 and August 2023, were six and 18 fighters, respectively, thus completing the number of 42 aircraft ordered for Indonesia under the contract signed in February 2022.
The country just announced that it gave up acquiring second-hand Mirage 2000-5 aircraft from Qatar due to financial constraints.
