Israel Ministry of Defence and Elbit Systems Land Division announced the completion of the Iron Fist Active Protection System (APS) test phase. The APS is installed on Eitan 8x8 wheeled armoured vehicle. The system intercepted the threat as planned during the trial. Tests are iterated in various scenarios.
Elbit developed the Iron Fist in line with modern requirements. The APS offers protection against hollow charge warheads and can be reloaded whenever or wherever necessary, differing from Trophy. This brings ease of operation and reduces costs as well. Iron Fist has a different interception method, so the launcher requires less maintenance than its predecessor.Active protection systems are more critical today. They are increasing and evolving hollow charge threat dimension, making APS necessary, especially in urban and asymmetrical environments.
