Italy Procures Three Unmanned Submarines from IAI

Italian Navy plans to acquire three unmanned submarines, known as the BlueWhale, from Israeli company Israel Aerospace Industry [IAI]. According to internal country reports, the decision to buy Large Displacement Autonomous Underwater Vehicle [LDAUV] submarine authority, according to internal reports. It was recently announced that Italy's navy will join the select group of navies equipped with large autonomous underwater vehicles. According to Italian authorities, Italy's decision to acquire these submarines stems from its defence collaboration with Israel. According to Italian reports, Tel Aviv is expected to provide significant logistical support to Rome in the acquisition of these three autonomous midget submarines. This mini-submarine weighs 5.5 tonnes and is 10.9 metres in length and 1.12 metres in diameter. It can operate at depths of up to 300 m while maintaining a speed of 2-3 knots. Its amazing characteristic is its ability to function independently for 30 days. Its modular payload consists of a complex array of electroacoustic, electrooptical, and radar sensors, as well as communication devices. BlueWhale fully encapsulates the vast powers of acoustic reconnaissance. Using sonar, this sophisticated system spans several tens of metres and is carried by the extraordinary BlueWhale.
