Royal Thai Army took delivery of Nexter LG1 Mark III towed howitzers. United Defence Technology published information about a Thai distributor of the French company, Nexter.
Thailand has taken delivery of six howitzers in the first batch. A total of 12 guns are planned. Towing vehicle is seen as a new Land Rover Defender in the shared images. The cost of howitzers is 22,677,763 Euros. Weapons will replace existing older towed howitzers. Thailand already has 24 LG1s in its inventory.
The Mark III is the latest digitised variant. Howitzer is equipped with a ballistic computer coupled to GPS and INS systems to enhance accuracy. The manufacturer claims that the service life of LG1 is more than 20 years. The barrel can be used for 7,000 rounds.
