MBDA presented the AI-based Ground Warden system used in combination with the Akeron anti-tank missile. Using the Ground Warden speeds up the processes of observing, locating, acquiring, and engaging the target. Its development began in 2023. Ground Warden is a portable system based on the use of advanced software and artificial intelligence.
The system connects a UAV to Akeron’s launcher, automatically processes images and data, and contributes to rapid target engagement by processing topography, distance and time of flight.
According to the company demonstration, an Akeron missile fired towards the tank sends back images via a non-jammable fibre-optic link. The information received allows the operator to modify its trajectory if needed.
