NIMR, a subsidiary of the UAE's EDGE Group, showcased the JAIS MRAP ( Mine Resistant Ambush Protected ) 6×6 variant at Egypt Defence Expo (EDEX) 2021 held in Cairo from 29 November to 3 December.
Formerly known as the N35 MRAP, it is already in service with the UAE Armed Forces. Designed for multi-role applications and multiple configurations.
The JAIS 6×6 can be developed as an armoured personnel carrier (APC) infantry fighting vehicle (IFV), ambulance, command and control vehicle, and Engineering & Recovery Vehicles.
The JAIS 6×6 also offers survivability, tactical mobility and combined with a large internal volume. Its payload capacity is up to 7,500 kg.
In terms of dimensions, the JAIS 6×6 has a length of 6.85 m, a width of 2.75 m, a height of 2.65 m, and a wheelbase of 3.1 m. The cabin can accommodate a crew of 11, including driver and commander.
The vehicle with a gross weight of 27 tons is driven by a 600 hp Caterpillar diesel engine generating a maximum torque of 1,900Nm. The maximum speed of the JAIS 6×6 reaches 105 km/h on flat road surfaces, with a maximum cruising range of 700 km.
Standard JAIS 6×6 equipment includes a power management system (PMS), a run-flat tire system and a central tire inflation system (CTIS).
As an option, the vehicle can be equipped with various military equipment, including the Battlefield Management System (BMS), the C4I System (command, control, communications, computers, and intelligence ).
This includes NDV (night/day vision) equipment, SAS (Situational Awareness System) and monitor screens.
Especially for the IFV variant is equipped with an EVPU Turra 30 gun turret with a 30 mm calibre 2A42 cannon, coaxial with a 7.62 mm calibre machine gun.
