Norway Orders Armoured Recovery Vehicles

Norway Orders Armoured Recovery Vehicles

The Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (Forsvarsmateriell) announced on June 26 that it had signed a contract with US vehicle specialist Miller Industries Towing Equipment (MITE) for the supply of seven armoured recovery vehicles (ARVs), with an option for two more. The contracted ARVs are designed for towing and recovering vehicles weighing 5 to 25 tonnes.

The contract is worth approximately EUR 4.3 million, and vehicles are expected to be delivered starting in 2027.

MITE will develop and integrate a recovery module with the Armoured Combat Support Vehicle (ACSV) multirole tracked platform developed by Flensburger Fahrzeugbau (FFG) in Germany to produce and deliver the vehicles. The basic ACSV platform can carry a payload of up to eight tonnes and has a maximum weight of 26 tonnes. A 460 kW multi-fuel engine powers it and has a top speed of 74 km/h thanks to vibration-dampening rubber tracks; however, no technical information about the Norwegian ARV variant.
