Patria Showcases Acoustic Minesweeping Gear

SONAC ACS has been developed to trigger or jam acoustic naval mines by emitting sound waves. SONAC ACS replicates the acoustic signature of ships stored in the library to trigger nearby mines. On the other hand, jamming capability offers a stealthier approach without triggering the mines.
The system can be towed by USVs and manned vessels. USVs are viewed as having remarkable potential for mine countermeasures missions, attributable to their remote control and low acoustic signature due to their mostly composite structure and small size. SONAC ACS, at a weight of 400 to 500 kg, can likely be used on 11-meter class USVs.
The gear with a large-diameter frame can be fitted with additional payloads such as sonar and optical sensors. SONAC ACS’s default equipment includes low-frequency transmitters, Ethernet cables, and hydrophones.
