German defence company Rheinmetall has developed a bridge layer version of Boxer to enable the armed forces to launch and recover bridges up to Military Load Classification MLC 50 and/or 15 meters in length. The vehicle is designed to meet the Royal Netherlands Army (Koninklijke Landmacht) Engineer Regiment requirements.
It can build a bridge with the modular system in front of the vehicle in two minutes. It can be attached and detachable as needed, preserving Boxer"s full functionality and flexibility for future missions.
The Cobra Bridgelayer is mounted on the vehicle"s front and allows an assault bridge to be stowed, launched, and recovered with a single system.
The newly developed COBRA is a flexible solution for medium-weight wheeled and tracked armoured vehicles. The COBRA is fully operable under armour.
