Roketsan Exports the UAV-230 Missile for the First Time

Roketsan’s missile is based on the TRG-230 Surface-to-Surface Ballistic Missile. It is transformed into an airborne missile. The missile is known in Turkish as İHA-230 because IHA means UAV. The UAV-230 is developed as an “Air-to-Ground Supersonic Ballistic Missile”. Roketsan announced the export on its social media accounts: “We made the first export of the UAV-230, our country’s first supersonic missile and will be used with the BAYRAKTAR AKINCI platform. By maintaining our strong cooperation, we will continue to produce and grow stronger for our country daily!” The UAV-230, which can operate day and night, is used against stationary land and sea targets, air defence radar and communication systems, lightly armoured land or sea vehicles, critical facilities such as command centres, personnel, and targets of opportunity. Its operational range is 150+ kilometres, depending on the speed and altitude at which the missile is released. 

The UAV-230 is normally equipped with a fragmentation warhead; however, different versions are used against different target types. The system is readied for its mission after the firing preparation process is completed before leaving the UAV. After being released from the UAV, it falls freely for a certain period and autonomously ignites the solid fuel engine. The UAV-230 is guided to the target with its GNSS-supported inertial guidance capability. This system provides a countermeasure against jamming systems as well. The system functions with a fire-and-forget capability. It allows the user to use it for critical missions without infiltrating deep into enemy positions.
