Russian Navy to Receive 12 New Vessels in 2024

Russian Navy plans to receive 12 new vessels into service by the end of 2024. The list includes a nuclear submarine. Prior to the Fleet 2024 expo in St. Petersburg, Navy Commander-in-Chief Admiral Alexander Moiseyev spoke about Russian Navy plans. He stated that the Russian Navy will receive 12 new warships by the end of 2024, including blue-water warships and nuclear submarines. Moiseyev said, “According to this year’s plan, we are implementing a program of 50 types of ships to boats. The main ones were rank-one ships, far-sea zone warships, and nuclear submarines. He added that the Borei-A Class nuclear submarine Knyaz Pozharsky was among those ships. Currently, the Russian Navy is completing trials and receiving small missile ships.  The ship was tested in the Baltic and Caspian Seas this year. “It is important to note that we also plan to compete in the construction and trials of ice-class patrol ships. There are four submarines, including two nuclear-powered ones”, he added.

The Russian Navy received 40 surface warships and 24 submarines in the last ten years. Compared to the previous decade, only three submarines were accepted. Russia is expected to invest in its Black Sea fleet due to ongoing war and future tensions. The lack of a mighty naval force in the Black Sea is a rising problem for Russia. The Ice Class vessels are armed icebreaking patrol ships under Project 23550. The ships are constructed at Saint Petersburg-based Admiralty Shipyards.
