TCG Ufuk will be in service soon

With a ceremony on January 14, Turkey's first intelligence ship built with domestic resources will be in service. According to information obtained by the state-owned Anadolu Agency, the TCG Ufuk will be delivered to the end user at the Istanbul Shipyard with a ceremony. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is also expected to attend the ceremony.

The ship was launched on February 9, 2019, with a ceremony that President Erdoğan attended. It has the same hull form as the first four corvettes of the MILGEM Project, which were primarily built for anti-submarine warfare. The ship will be used for intelligence operations. I

A 10-ton helicopter will be able to land on the Ufuk Corvette, which has a length of 99.5 metres, a maximum width of 14.4 metres, a displacement of 2 thousand 400 tonnes, and a draught of 3.6 metres.

STM is the main contractor, and ASELSAN provided command and control, electronic systems, and test training system equipment for the Corvette. TCG Ufuk will detect threats to national security in real-time by navigating for 45 days in extreme weather and sea conditions, including international waters.
