The U.S. Approves AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM Sale to Denmark

The U.S. State Department has approved the sale of 84 AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM beyond-visual-range air-to-air missiles to Denmark. The sale, worth $215.5 million, also includes guidance sections, support, spare parts, and maintenance equipment. Denmark operates F-16 and F-35A fighter jets, which use the AIM-120 series of air-to-air missiles. AIM-120C-8, the latest export model in the AIM-120 family, boasts advanced features such as increased range, new electronics, and a two-way data-link. Its new rocket engine achieves range enhancement, and mid-course guidance is improved with GPS support. These features, also present on some air defence missiles like SİPER Block 1 and IRIS-T SLM, ensure improved navigation. The missile is compatible with Western-standard fighter jets like F-16, F-15, Eurofighter Typhoon, and F-35, making it a reliable and versatile choice. Other countries that the U.S. has approved the sale of AIM-120C-8 missiles are Poland, Germany, Japan, Netherlands, Italy, and Sweden. Turkiye has also requested that the missile be acquired.
