The U.S. is Repositioning its Military Assets in the Middle East

Sky News Arabia analyses U.S. mobility in the Middle East Gulf region. The publication claims that the U.S. is repositioning its regional military assets. Media reports revealed that the Pentagon is transferring jet fighters, armed drones, and other aircraft to Qatar after the United Arab Emirates (UAE) decided to prevent the United States from launching air strikes from Al Dhafra Air Base. The UAE informed the United States in February that it would not allow American warplanes and drones stationed at Al Dhafra base to carry out strikes in Yemen and Iraq, which prompted Washington to send additional aircraft to Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, according to what the American Wall Street Journal reported. According to the newspaper, this step highlights the growing tensions between Washington and some Arab Gulf states, especially considering the UAE’s fears of the escalation of the regional conflict with the spread of the war in Gaza.
