Turkiye Has a New Unmanned Surface Vehicle

Mersin-based defence company Kayacı Defence Systems prepares Turkiye’s fifth unmanned surface vehicle. The company’s unmanned system was spotted today at Mersin Port.Turkiye met with the Armed Unmanned Surface Vehicle concept with Ares Shipyard- Meteksan Savunma’s ULAQ. Havelsan - Yonca-Onuk joint work Sancar, ASELSAN -Sefine Shipyard joint vehicle Mir, Marlin, ASELSAN’s Albatros-S, and Dearsan’s Salvo are the other unmanned surface vehicles. As there is no standard classification for surface vehicles, Kayacı calls its product “Unmanned Naval Vehicle.”

According to the Kayacı website, the unmanned system will be equipped with Automatic Radar Plotting Aid (ARPA) route line preservation system integrated into its radar. It will calculate the closest approaching point and the time of the closest point of approaching to cruise along its predefined route autonomously. The vehicle will be equipped with LIDAR, a thermal camera, night vision camera. Its endurance will be 48 hours at cruise speed.

There is no information on the website about whether the vehicle will be armed.

According to its website, the Kayacı company is focused on naval systems, avionics, naval electronics, unmanned vehicles, radar systems, and radar hardware/software solutions.
