The State Department has approved a Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to Greece, paving the way for acquiring UH-60M Black Hawk Helicopters and associated equipment. The estimated cost of this deal stands at $1.95 billion. The Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has fulfilled the mandatory certification, officially notifying Congress of this potential sale.
Greece's request includes purchasing 35 UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters, along with 80 T700-GE 701D engines, of which 70 will be installed and ten will serve as spares. The projected total cost of the proposed sale is $1.95 billion.
According to DSCA, this prospective transaction aligns with the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States, aiming to enhance the security of Greece, a crucial NATO Ally. Greece's role as a partner for political stability and economic progress in Europe underscores the strategic importance of bolstering its defence capabilities, DSCA says.
