The United Kingdom has decided to deploy patrol and surveillance aircraft (RC-135 ‘Rivet Joint) and two Royal Navy ships, RFA Argus and RFA Lyme Bay, to the eastern Mediterranean. Downing Street confirmed that this deployment is intended to “support Israel.”
According to the BBC, the British government emphasises that the main objective is to “track threats to regional stability, such as the transfer of weapons to terrorist groups.” In addition, it was reported that commercial evacuation flights will be organised for British citizens in Israel.
