A state of emergency was declared in the region due to two major earthquakes in Turkiye on February 6, 2023, which affected ten provinces. Death toll from earthquake rises to 6,957 with 38,224 injured Turkiye. The World Health Organisation declared a “Level 3 Emergency”. Level 3 stands for the highest emergency, WHO’s agency-wide assets are called upon to be mobilised.
