Defence Ministry’s company ASFAT and TÜBİTAK SAGE will produce an HGK-82 guidance kit that converts existing 500 lb Mk-82 general-purpose bombs to ammunition with smart and precise strike capability. The air-launched bomb will guide itself with INS and GPS guidance system. The air to ground smart bombs can be released multiple by using BRU 57 ejector rack.
ASFAT presented its HGK-82 kits today with a ceremony that Defence Minister Hulusi Akar and technology and Industry Minister Mustafa Varank attended.
The HGK kit allows the bomb re-targeting during captive flight. It is Jam resistant against electronic warfare. It can operate in all weather conditions day and night. Thanks to its effectiveness, it requires fewer bombs, sorties and crews. As a result, it is cost-effective. The kit provides high precision with integrated GPS/INS. The kit is certified to F-16 PO-III and F-4E/2020 aircraft. The kit complies with MIL-STD 1760
Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank said, "As you know, HGK-82s were delivered for the first time in partnership with TÜBİTAK-SAGE and ASELSAN. The HGK-82s we delivered today are carried out in partnership with ASFAT-TÜBİTAK SAGE. It is the first batch whose production has been completed. Hopefully, it will be completely delivered by August 2022." Varank stated that 1000 kits will be produced.
