Russia acquired unmanned aerial systems from Iran after failures in the Ukraine front. The main supplier of systems is Iran. After the occupiers’ kamikaze drone attacks on Ukraine, the European Union (EU) took action. According to information published by officials, EU countries agreed to apply sanctions on three individuals and one entity for supplying drones from Iran to Russia.
Ukrainian military reports that over 220 Iranian drones have been shot-down since mid-September. Russia uses Iranian systems mostly against critical infrastructures such as energy systems and command and control stations. Some of the systems hit residential areas and caused civilian losses.
