First Test for Artillery Guidance Kit

First Test for Artillery Guidance Kit

Guided artillery ammunition became more and more critical. Conflict in Ukraine showed that smart artillery provides a quick and precise solution for suppressing enemy heavy weapons. BAE Systems conducted studies on guided artillery ammunition and shared information about an important milestone. The company announced that the first test of LR-PGH (Long Range Precision Guidance Kit) was completed.

LR-PGK is a guidance kit which increases the accuracy of conventional 155 millimetres artillery rounds. The system consists GPS sensor and corrects flight trajectory via a moving aerodynamic control interface. The system is suitable for both old and new projectiles. Rounds fitted with LR-PGK provide artillery units in battle with accurate fire support capabilities that friendly forces can rely on in areas where collateral damage is a concern, resulting in improved accuracy against modern threats, and reduced Circular Error of Probability (CEP). The guidance, navigation, and control architecture provides anti-jam performance and achieves precision strikes at extended ranges.
