Germany Evaluates Counter-Drone Systems
Germany announced that the German Armed Forces Bundeswehr is evaluating the C-UAS solution, developed by Rheinmetall in C-EAT (Counter Emerging Air Threats) Project. The system is effective against large-scale threat definition, including commercial systems to special drones and LTE mobile radio communication suites. The Austrian Armed Forces originally selected and rented Rheinmetall's small anti-drone system for a six-month test and evaluation phase. In May 2022, Rheinmetall Air Defence AG successfully delivered the latest version of the rapidly deployable C-UAS system to the armed forces. This lease has now been extended.The importance of anti-drone systems is increasing. During the Russian invasion attempt on Ukraine, the requirement for a cost-effective, agile and deployable solution emerged. Many countries saw that hard-kill solutions could be more cost-effective and sustainable. Because of this reason, companies are looking for low-cost interception alternatives.
