According to Greek daily Ekathimerini, a coalition of Greek American advocacy groups has sent a letter to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, warning against the sale of F-16 fighter jets to Turkiye. The diaspora demands US to guarantee Greece’s security interests, territorial integrity, and sovereignty.
“Any transfer of F-16s to Turkey must deal with Ankara’s continued belligerence against Greece and must also consider Turkey’s destabilizing use of American weapons in the region, in particular its use of such weapons to continue its occupation of Cyprus,” the letter said. It also claimed that Turkiye threatens the very principles, values and interests during the Ukraine crisis.
The letter is signed by a Greek diaspora coalition such as the International Coordinating Committee, Justice for Cyprus (PSEKA); the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA); The Coordinated Effort of Hellenes; The Hellenic American National Council (HANC); The Hellenic American Leadership Council (HALC); The Federation of Cypriot American Organizations; The Cyprus-US American Chamber of Commerce; The American Hellenic Institute (AHI); The Federation of Chians; The Pan Macedonian Association USA; The Hellenic American Leadership Council (HALC).
