The Spanish Secretary of State for Defence Amparo Valcarce and Secretary of Turkish Defence Industries Haluk Görgün held talks at the summit. During the 8th Intergovernmental Summit, officials of the two countries discussed the Turkish-Spanish defence cooperation and possible future projects. Valcarce pointed out shared projects and new opportunities for cooperation that are opening up.
Haluk Görgün’s Spanish counterpart also invited the Turkish delegation to participate in the 4th FEINDEF exhibition to be held between the 12th and 14th of May 2025 with the institutional support of the Spanish MoD. The most well-known cooperation between Spain and Turkiye is the TCG ANADOLU (L-400) LHD.
The ship was co-built by Navantia from Spain and the Sedef shipyard, Turkiye. The design is based on the ship Juan Carlos I with Navantia, providing ToT, equipment, and technical assistance to the primary contractor Sedef Shipyard.
