HÜRJET to Perform First Foreign Flight in Egypt

Anadolu News Agency reports that Turkiye's first jet-powered training aircraft, HÜRJET, is preparing to make its first flight abroad in Egypt. Hürjet, manufactured by Turkish Aerospace (TUSAŞ), competes in export markets. The aircraft, which participated in the Malaysia tender before making its first flight, is preparing for its second tender in Spain. It will also participate in the Egypt International Airshow, which will be held on September 3-5, 2024 at El Alamein International Airport. Egypt, which is looking for a training aircraft in this class, is interested in HÜRJET. As part of the airshow, meetings will be held with regional countries, especially Egypt, regarding HÜRJET and other TUSAŞ products. Since many armed forces, including the Turkish Air Force, will replace their current jet training aircraft with advanced versions in the next ten years, countries such as Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Colombia, France, Peru, Sweden, Taiwan, the UAE and the USA, have started working to meet the increasing need. At the same time, the superior performance and warfare techniques of next-generation fighter aircraft have created the need for higher-level performance in jet training aircraft, which has increased interest in new-generation jet training aircraft accordingly. The work within the scope of the HÜRJET Jet Training and Light Attack Aircraft Project, developed with domestic and national resources, started in August 2017. Turkiye's first jet-powered supersonic training aircraft, HÜRJET, started its engine for the first time on January 30, 2023. HÜRJET met the sky for the first time on April 25, 2023.

The aircraft now performs aerobatic shows together with Turkish Stars which are flying with NF-5. The next aircraft of Turkish Stars will be HÜRJET too. TUSAŞ aims to manufacture six to seven aircraft in the first year of the serial production process of HÜRJET, two per month, and 24 aircraft per year from the following year. It is aimed to deliver two HÜRJETs to the customer every month after 2025. HÜRJET deliveries to the Turkish Air Force will also begin in 2025.
