Poland Deploys 10 thousand Soldiers to the Belarus Border

Warsaw seeks to beef up its security along its territorial border with Belarus in reaction to perceived threats from this close Russian ally and recent activities by Wagner's paramilitary fighters. Polish Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak indicated that the primary purpose of this displacement is to deter possible attacks from the border. However, no specific schedule was provided for this deployment. It was clarified that many new forces would likely focus on training rather than direct military operations near the border. This military reinforcement coincides with the recent drills carried out by Belarus near the border, which, according to Minsk, are aimed at learning from Russia's military actions in Ukraine, including the use of drones. The Polish government recently accused Belarus of violating the border for two kilometres with two helicopters in the Bialowieza region. It is also known that some mercenaries from Russia's Wagner group have moved into Belarus. Alexander Lukashenko, the leader of Belarus, said as if he was joking, "They want to go west... to go on a trip to Warsaw... But of course, I am keeping them in Belarus, as we agreed."
