Turkiye Hosts Trilateral Defence Cooperation Meeting

Turkiye Hosts Trilateral Defence Cooperation Meeting

Turkiye held the fifth meeting with Pakistan and Saudi Arabia for defence industry cooperation in Istanbul. Secretary of Defence Industry Secretariat Professor Haluk Görgün announced the meeting. During the meeting, ongoing and potential joint projects were discussed, and opinions on the defence sector were exchanged. Turkiye and Pakistan have long-standing military cooperation, which has recently expanded to the defence industry. Some examples include PN MİLGEM corvettes, Pakistan’s acquisition of Baykar’s armed UAV/UCAV platforms, Turkiye’s use of Pakistani Super Mushshak trainer aircraft, and joint development for air-to-air missile technologies. Defence relations between Turkiye and Saudi Arabia came into the spotlight with the latter’s major acquisition of Bayraktar AKINCI UCAVs worth more than $3 billion. Additionally, production will be expanded, with SAMI joining the AKINCI production line. ASELSAN and ROKETSAN will also provide the sensors, avionics, and munitions used on the UCAV.

General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, Commander-in-Chief of Turkish Land Forces, has visited the Pakistani Army General Headquarters and a large Saudi Delegation visited Turkiye recently.
