VENOM LR Cannon to be Delivered in August 2024

SYS General Manager Cahit Utku Aral stated that the VENOM LR 30x113 mm revolver cannon will meet its first customers in August 2024. Following the British AEI Systems acquisition by the Turkish SYS, the group added large-calibre weapons to its arsenal. VENOM LR has quickly become one of SYS’s flagship products. Offering higher firepower for lightweight platforms like 4x4 vehicles, UGVs, and small boats, VENOM LR is set for first deliveries in August 2024. VENOM LR is a ‘ground up’ complete redesign of the ADEN 30 mm Gun as a gas-operated, electrically primed, self-loading revolver cannon VENOM LR can be integrated on most of the RCWS that accept 12.7 mm heavy machine guns thanks to its compactness and lowered recoil. With optimised progressive parabolic rifling, the lengthened barrel improves accuracy, and the muzzle brake assists in reducing recoil force. With a 2000 m effective range, single shot and 225 to 1200 RPM automatic firing modes are available for the gun. VENOM LR can fire various types of ammunition, including HEI, AP, and HEDP, and the new proximity-fused rounds are seen as potential solutions against small UAVs. Compatible platforms include tactical vehicles, tanks, boats, warships, UGVs, USVs, helicopters and combat aircraft. SYS General Manager Cahit Utku Aral previously stated to Anadolu Agency that talks were being held with TUSAŞ and Baykar for the integration of 30x113 mm weapons on ATAK-II attack helicopter and KIZILELMA unmanned combat aircraft. If an agreement is reached, it is safe to say ATAK-II will use VENOM LR, but it is more likely that KIZILELMA will use the baseline VENOM revolver cannon without recoil buffers because of size constraints.
