Haluk Görgün, the Secretary of Defence Industries, has revealed the delivery timetable for serial manufacturing of ALTAY, the next-generation MBT for Türkiye,
The statement states that three tanks for the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) will arrive in 2025, 11 in 2026, 41 in 2027, and 30 in 2028.
Speaking at BMC's facilities in Ankara, Görgün affirmed that confirming Türkiye's dedication to modernising its armoured capabilities, an extra 165 tanks will be delivered in the next years.

T1 vs T2 Versions
TurDef anticipates that the initial batch of three ALTAY T1 tanks will be produced at the Sakarya Tank Pallet Factory, as was the case with the previous two prototypes already delivered to the TSK. Future tanks, particularly those produced at the Ankara Aerospace and Defence Industrial Zone (HAB), are expected to be of the T2 configuration.
There is no information available regarding the production differences between T1 and T2 versions. It is known that the first two tanks were delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces for testing purposes. TurDef underlines that these two tanks produced at Sakarya Tank Pallet Factory lacked monocoque welding techniques.
By allowing the armour to be straight into the body of the tank, monocoque designs help to distribute stress and lower weld points uniformly. This greatly improves the tank's resistance against explosions—including landmines and anti-tank weapons—and helps integrate composite armour elements.
T2 Configuration Enhancements
The T2 configuration will introduce several advanced features:
Enhanced armour systems
Isolated hull ammunition storage
Laser-guided cannon firing capabilities
Crew training mode
Mobile camouflage net and signature management systems
These developments seek to improve the tank's survivability, lethality, and operational flexibility on the contemporary battlefield.
BMC Manufacturing Plant
The press meeting also underlined the BMC Ankara Armoured Vehicle Production Facility, where the ALTAY T2 tanks will be built. Of the 63,000 square meters, 50,000 square meters will be set up for ALTAY manufacture, and the remaining 13,000 square meters will be used for ALTUĞ 8x8 armoured vehicle construction.

At full capacity, the facility will be capable of producing:
8 ALTAY tanks per month
10 ALTUĞ 8×8 vehicles per month
The facility will employ over 1,500 personnel across various projects, including white and blue-collar workers.
Testing Infrastructure
The factory will have welding stations, specialist paint shops, and modern manufacturing lines. It will also cover 290,000 square meters and have a state-of-the-art testing track meant to replicate operational situations wheeled and tracked vehicles may encounter throughout their service life.
Furthermore, test workshops for the maintenance and calibration of testing equipment will be developed, guaranteeing the dependability of both manufacturing techniques and vehicle performance criteria.
