French armoured vehicle manufacturer Arquus presented its DRAILER 4x4 UGV in fire support configuration, armed with eight MBDA AKERON LP anti-tank missiles.
Following the Milrem Robotics’ submission for the MARSEUS programme, French Arquus unveiled its own, which uses DRAILER 4x4 UGV chassis. Zone Militaire reported that the new variant titled DRAILER MARSEUS (Accordingly to the programme) was unveiled during the TechTerre event.
DRAILER 4x4 hybrid-electric UGV can reach a range of 100 km at a speed of 20 km/h and a maximum speed of 40 km/h off-road. An interesting feature of DRAILER is the provision to be towed by another vehicle to the operation area.
Compared to Milrem’s submission using the same armament but onboard the heavier and tracked Type X UGV, DRAILER takes a different approach with a smaller platform, which likely means lower costs per unit.
AKERON LP missile to be used by the winning platform(s) in the MARSEUS project allows non-line of sight fire support with its two-way data link and tri-mode seeker consisting of IIR, TV, and semi-active laser modes.
