ASELSAN shared the test video of its KORKUT 100/25 SB mobile C-UAS system fitted with a 25 mm autocannon firing ATOM 25 prefragmented airburst ammunition.
KORKUT 100/25 SB shot down a quadrotor UAV target using the ATOM 25 airburst ammunition in its first announced test. KORKUT 100/25 SB was unveiled during the SAHA EXPO 2024 defence exhibition.
The system developed by ASELSAN [BIST:ASELS], using Nurol Makina's Ejder Yalçın EWB 4x4 as the platform, incorporates four AURA 200-G AESA radars and a mast-mounted EO/IR system as the sensors.
The main weapon, a 25 mm autocannon fitted with ATOM 25 prefragmented airburst rounds, provides a lighter and more mobile option compared to the KORKUT SPAAG. It is seen in the video that two to five rounds can take out most small UAVs. ATOM 25 with a muzzle velocity of 1100 m/s has an effective range of 1000 m against UAVs, while this can go up to 1500 m for soft land targets (Infantry, unarmoured vehicles, sensors...).
In addition to KORKUT 100/25 SB, ASELSAN is also developing the towed KORKUT 130/25 SB variant with the same loadout, which could be regarded as a successor to ŞAHİN 130/40GL, which is using ATOM 40 airburst grenades, thanks to longer range and far shorter time to target provided by ATOM 25.
