Bayraktar TB3 UCAV Fires UAV-122 Missile at Low Altitude

Bayraktar TB3 UCAV Fires UAV-122 Missile at Low Altitude TurDef

Bayraktar TB3 UCAV fired the UAV-122 aeroballistic missile’s laser-guided configuration at an altitude of 300 ft and hit the sea target at a range of 20 km.

Baykar gave details regarding the firing conditions for the new test and the one before it with UAV-122. In the test where the target was located at a range of 50 km, Bayraktar TB3 fired the missile at 22000 ft altitude. The recent test is intriguing, with a firing altitude of 300 ft and a range of 20 km.

It appears that there is an idea of using Bayraktar TB3 in ASuW missions with a low altitude flight profile to delay detection and then climb up by a small amount to fire the missiles beyond the range of point defence missiles of corvettes and fast attack craft.

TV seeker option would also be preferable in this scenario as it has no need for laser designation and it would not trigger the laser warning systems present on some modern warships.
