British Army Receives First Boxer Armoured Vehicle TurDef

The British Army has received its first home-produced Boxer 8X8 armoured vehicle under a $7bn programme to deliver 623 vehicles across multiple variants.

The British Army has received its first Boxer armoured vehicle made in the UK. This is a big step forward in the UK's £5 billion ($7 billion) plan to provide 623 vehicles in different configurations.

The vehicle is part of the British Army's Mechanised Infantry Vehicle (MIV) program. Boxers will be used for troop transporting, serving as battlefield ambulances, command posts, and specialised carriers. The modular architecture lets you switch out mission-specific payloads on the same drive module, which makes it easier to operate and maintain.

Production in the UK follows an initial batch built in Germany by ARTEC GmbH — a joint venture between Rheinmetall and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann — to accelerate deliveries while domestic manufacturing lines were established. With local production now underway, the UK aims to meet its target of 623 vehicles by the end of the decade.

The Boxer may weigh as much as 38 tonnes and go as fast as 103 km/h. It is equipped armour systems to protect against mines, improvised explosive devices, and ballistic threats.
