British Army Takes Delivery of Two Challenger 3 MBTs TurDef

The British Army has taken delivery of two Challenger 3 MBT prototypes for field tests.
BAE Systems and German Rheinmetall have announced the delivery of the third and fourth Pre-Series prototypes for tests under operational conditions.
Challenger 3 is an upgrade to the British Army's Challenger 2 MBTs, with modernised armament and improved protection.
The main gun has been switched to a 120 mm L55 smoothbore from a 120 mm rifled one to ensure compatibility with NATO-standard ammunition.
The new tanks feature a new armour package, likely switching from the durable but extremely heavy one in the Challenger 2 MBTs, making them the heaviest in the world.
In addition to the new armour package, Rafael's Trophy active protection system will provide increased survivability against ATGMs and RPGs.
The sensor package has also been replaced with modern EO/IR systems and a 360-degree situational awareness system.
