During SAHA EXPO 2024, CANiK displayed TRAKON RCWS fitted with VENOM LR 30x113 mm revolver cannon and U.S.-made EchoGuard C-UAS radar.
Echodyne's compact EchoGuard C-UAS electronically scanned array radar has been installed on TRAKON RCWS after being integrated into several other C-UAS RCWS.
CANiK intends TRAKON with VENOM LR revolver cannon as a C-UAS solution with proximity-fused ammunition that detonates without hitting the target. The U.S. has invested in the M230LF chain gun in the same calibre to be used on various short-range air defence systems for C-UAS capability with proximity ammunition.
EchoGuard radar is mounted on the front of RCWSs' frontside to act as a secondary sensor alongside the optics. It provides long-range detection with no susceptibility to visual obstruction. The radar has an 80-degree elevation and a 120-degree azimuth field of view.
Echodyne states that Echoguard can detect nano-UAVs from 250 m, mini-UAVs from 1000 m, humans from 2.2 km, and vehicles from 3.5 km.
ASELSAN displayed the KORKUT 25 RCWS, based on the NEFER-L 25 mm RCWS, coupled with the quad package AURA 200-G AESA radar for 4x4 vehicles in the exhibition.
Compared to the TRAKON+EchoGuard solution, KORKUT 25 features 25 mm ATOM airburst ammunition with a higher muzzle velocity (thus longer range) and a more capable radar suite that also provides 360-degree coverage. However, the former is more compact and comes as a single piece, whereas KORKUT 25 consists of the RCWS and radar components separately.
