ASELSAN’s EJDERHA 200 AD HPeM weapon, intended for C-UAS missions as a directed energy weapon, has entered the production phase following its tests in 2025.
The 2025 recap of ASELSAN (Z Report), announced by the CEO Ahmet Akyol, included that the EJDERHA 200 AD HPeM weapon has entered the production phase following the tests.
During the tests, EJDERHA 200 AD took down an UAV swarm, a threat that has come up further to the front due to the proven threat/cost per attack ratio with the right planning. A good example to give is the attacks on Russian airbases by Ukrainian UAV swarms, which have left many aircraft unable to operate.
EJDERHA 200 AD was unveiled during IDEF2025 as a towed system like İHTAR jammer and ŞAHİN 130/40GL airburst grenade launcher system currently in use.
Like laser weapons, HPeM weapons are classified as directed energy weapons. However, due to the nature of microwaves and the emitters, they have significantly different characteristics compared to laser weapons.
Whereas laser weapons heat the target until the point of damage, HPeM weapons knock out the circuits of small electronic assemblies, resulting in loss of function. This characteristic also allows HPeM weapons to take down UAVs equipped with fibre optic cables, which render traditional jamming of the communication link ineffective.
