IAF gets its Air Defence System MRSAM

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has received the first Firing Unit (FU) of the Medium-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (MRSAM) System. The MRSAM system is designed to engage targets at a medium range. The system was handed over at the Air Force Station in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

Dr G Satheesh Reddy, Secretary of Defence R&D and Chairman of DRDO handed it over to Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal R K S Bhadauria. The DRDO and IAI officials also demonstrated the capabilities of the MRSAM system as part of the On-Site Acceptance Test (OSAT). The MRSAM can engage multiple targets at ranges of up to 70 kilometres.
