India Conducts Long-Range Cruise Missile Test

India declared the successful test of a domestically created long-range Indigenous Technology Cruise Missile (ITCM). India'nDefence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted a test of the Integrated Test Range (ITCM) with a range of 1,000 km at Chandipur off the coast of Odisha. The missile will be integrated into the Rocket Force together with BrahMos and Pralay missiles to enhance conventional strike capabilities. The missile adhered to the intended trajectory and travelled at a minimal altitude over the water, as reported. All of the missile's subsystems functioned without a problem, as recorded by radar and electro-optical detection systems. Finally, the rocket engine, developed domestically by GTRE (Gas Turbine Research Establishment), also worked smoothly. The ITCM missile is based on the Nirbhay missile, which incorporates the Russian NPO Saturn 36MT engine.
