Following President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's visit to Indonesia, Indonesia has ordered Bayraktar TB3 and Bayraktar Akıncı unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAVs from Baykar). The agreement enhanced Turkiye's development of defence cooperation with Indonesia.
During the visit, Haluk Görgün, Secretary of Defence Industries, signed a Strategic Defence Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indonesia's Minister of Defence. The deal seeks to strengthen long-term alliances between the two countries and improve cooperation on military initiatives.
To further Indonesia's military sector capacity, Baykar and Indonesian defence business Republikorp also inked a joint venture deal. Haluk Bayraktar, Baykar's General Manager, signed the Agreements.
Indonesia's TB3 UCAV ordering fits its intentions for naval development. Expecting to complete its Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) vessel in 2028, the TB3's shipborne capabilities make it a great asset for the future fleet. Furthermore, underlining the strategic relevance of the TB3 purchase is Indonesia's long-term aspiration to include an aircraft carrier in her navy fleet.
