Indonesian PT Pindad has announced a new delivery of armoured vehicles to the Indonesian Army, which includes eight KAPLAN MT tanks.
Alongside eight KAPLAN MT tanks, 250 Maung MV3 4x4 vehicles, 23 Pandur 8x8 APCs, nine Anoa 6x6 APCs, and six Komodo 4x4 APCs have been delivered.
In addition to KAPLAN MT, in which PT Pindad has taken part, other vehicles like Anoa and Komodo are also of Indonesian origin.
KAPLAN MT has been developed jointly by Turkish FNSS and PT Pindad to answer the need in Indonesia for a more mobile fire support vehicle with a level of protection between MBTs and light armoured vehicles. The vehicle is armed with a Cockerill 3105 turret carrying a 105 mm rifled gun, auto-loader, and onboard electro-optics for both gunner and commander.
The armour's base configuration protects against 14.5x114 mm AP rounds, but it can be upgraded to be against 25x137 mm APDS-T rounds with add-on armour.
FNSS has also integrated the PULAT fixed active protection system to provide better survivability against ATGMs and RPGs.
