SEFİNE-ASELSAN’s Marlin USV has launched the KUZGUN-KY surface-to-surface missile from its eight-cell fixed launcher.
The Secretary of Turkish Defence Industries, Haluk Görgün, stated that the test was a ballistic firing test. The eight-cell fixed launcher for KUZGUN-KY was unveiled in mid-September.
The rocket-powered KUZGUN-KY, with a range of 50 km and supersonic speed, will be among the main ASuW weapons of the USV, given its small size, high speed, and beyond-line-of-sight range.
The missile has options for different seekers (SAL, IIR, mmW radar) and a 10 kg warhead (Fragmentation, shaped charge, thermobaric).
Backup guidance methods such as GPS, INS, and home-on-jam (HOJ) are also present.
Additionally, Malaysian Dayatech Merin has shown its concept for a turreted launcher intended for TÜBİTAK SAGE’s KUZGUN missiles to be used on warships.
KUZGUN-KY is expected to be integrated into ground platforms and UCAVs in the future. TÜBİTAK SAGE’s former Director, Gürcan Okumuş, stated that some potential export customers were interested in integrating the KUZGUN KY missile on ground platforms in an interview with Youtuber Kaner Kurt.
